Spanish Grand Prix: F1 drivers pushing for 'obvious' changes to Madring after debut

Formula 1 drivers are already pushing for changes to the Madring circuit after its debut Spanish Grand Prix delivered a low-action race with few overtaking opportunities. The new street track, built around a largely empty exhibition centre, was widely expected to be chaotic, a label even Max Verstappen had used. During Friday’s drivers’ briefing, Lando Norris said the problem seemed obvious and called for removing Turns 18 and 19 to create a longer run into a hairpin. Kimi Antonelli agreed it wasn’t generating passing chances and noted that contact is often inevitable. Oliver Bearman echoed that frustration, adding that the design had offered too much “free rein” without delivering results. The circuit holds a 10-year contract.
