Supercars Townsville: Brodie Kostecki dominates race three
Supercars Townsville: Brodie Kostecki dominates race three, securing a commanding win on the street circuit in Townsville, far north Queensland. Kostecki’s advantage came despite being potentially shaded in qualifying, with Ford Mustang driver Cam Waters (Tickford) taking pole and leading the start. Kostecki moved into second from Ryan Wood (Walkinshaw TWG Toyota GR Supra), then made an early first pitstop before building race control on a 32-lap middle stint. His tyre management delivered a lead that grew to as much as eight seconds, despite some rivals running on fresher tyres. By the chequered flag, the 2023 champion won by 9.34 seconds, finishing as the streets of Queensland delivered the event’s final race. Matt Payne followed with a strong tyre-managed result, aided by Waters losing speed after his second stop and being forced into serious fuel saving. Chaz Mostert and Broc Feeney also finished inside the points, with several drivers impacted by fuel management late in the race.
