Technology readiness most strongly linked to Indian smart EV charging
A cross-sectional study in Frontiers in Sustainable Cities surveyed 535 electric-vehicle owners in India to examine what drives interest in smart EV charging. The researchers found “technology readiness” had the strongest standardized statistical link to the intention to use smart charging. Its path coefficient was 0.241, ahead of performance expectancy and effort expectancy, each at 0.207. Perceived value, environmental concern, and facilitating conditions also showed positive and significant associations. The six predictors together explained 22.7% of the variation in intention, and the authors stress these are correlations, not proof of cause. The study highlights that smart charging uses digital communication to schedule charging around grid conditions and prices, and can support vehicle-to-grid functions, making consumer acceptance critical.
