Tesla's Semi Truck Involved In Horrific Crash That Killed Married Couple
A Tesla Semi was involved in a fatal crash earlier this week, killing a married couple and leaving another person critically injured, according to Nevada Highway Patrol and reporting cited by Electrek. The incident occurred Sunday morning on U.S. 50 in Dayton, Nevada. Authorities said Sergio and Jennifer Villanueva, identified by The Record-Courier, were stopped at a traffic signal in a Volkswagen Beetle when the Semi struck their car, and another vehicle hit from behind. Both victims were pronounced dead at the scene, while a third victim was flown to a hospital with life-threatening injuries. Investigators from the Lyon County Sheriff’s Office said the Semi’s driver may have fallen asleep based on statements taken at the scene, though the driver’s identity has not been released. The crash is described as the first known fatal collision involving the battery-powered truck, and reports indicate Tesla Semi’s self-driving features were not involved.
