The rarest cars on the planet include creations from Bugatti, Ferrari and McLaren, and these are the most eye-catching of them all

A ranking of ultra-rare cars highlights exclusivity measured in tiny production numbers, spanning Bugatti, Ferrari and McLaren. The Ferrari 250 GTO, built between 1962 and 1964, had just 36 examples and is powered by a 3.0-liter V12; some have sold for more than $35 million. The McLaren F1 LM is even scarcer, with only five customer cars built to mark McLaren’s 1995 24 Hours of Le Mans win, featuring more power from its naturally aspirated V12, revised aerodynamics and Papaya Orange paint. The Rolls-Royce Boat Tail was commissioned in just three units with bespoke, yacht-inspired design cues. At the top is Bugatti La Voiture Noire, a one-off hypercar with an 8.0-liter quad-turbo W16, reportedly priced around $19 million before taxes.
