This car is supposed to need only 2.2 liters per 100 kilometers
Geely's Emgrand i-HEV is drawing attention for claiming exceptionally low fuel consumption, potentially challenging rival hybrids. The Chinese sedan measures about 4.82 meters in length and is powered by a 1.5-liter gasoline engine paired with an electric motor, delivering up to 188 horsepower. Geely says the car consumes only 2.22 liters per 100 kilometers in tests, surpassing the previous Prius benchmark of 2.53 L/100km. Unlike plug-in hybrids, the i-HEV's battery charges automatically through driving and braking. In China, its price starts at around €11,000, though European pricing remains uncertain. Geely Group, which also includes Volvo and Polestar, already sells several models in Europe and has positioned the Emgrand i-HEV within the growing mid-size segment abroad.
