Tour de France stage 21: Pogacar confirms yellow as Van der Poel stuns in Paris. Was this best-ever final stage?

Mathieu van der Poel produced one of the most extraordinary wins of his career to take Tour de France stage 21 on the Champs-Élysées, holding off the peloton in Paris. After going clear on the final climb, Montmartre, Van der Poel teamed up with yellow jersey Tadej Pogačar, but Pogačar was briefly caught with about 700 metres left. Despite the pressure, Pogačar safely crossed in 30th place, securing his fifth Tour title and making him a five-time winner. Van der Poel still launched a sprint with 800 metres to go and survived a late surge from Jasper Philipsen and Mads Pedersen. Pogačar’s role helping his win capped a memorable final stage.
