Truck Driver, 69, Allegedly Stabbed Mark Sanchez 4 Times. So Why Is the Former Quarterback Facing Up to 6 Years in Prison?
Truck driver, 69, allegedly stabbed Mark Sanchez 4 times, and a trial date is set amid prosecutors’ claims of self-defense. Mark Sanchez, the former NFL quarterback, is scheduled to face jury selection in Indiana beginning July 13 in connection with an incident outside a Westin hotel in Indianapolis shortly after midnight on Oct. 4, 2025. Prosecutors charge Sanchez, 39, with a felony count of battery causing serious bodily injury and misdemeanor counts including battery causing injury, public intoxication and unlawful entry of a vehicle, with the most serious charge carrying up to six years in prison. Court filings say Indianapolis Metropolitan Police initially found Sanchez with several stab wounds to the upper right torso area and that he told detectives he did not know who attacked him. Investigators later interviewed 69-year-old truck driver Perry Tole, who had a laceration to his left cheek, and Tole allegedly said he stabbed Sanchez in self-defense. The affidavit states surveillance footage from a camera across the street matches Tole’s account.
