Trump Administration Kills Annual Arctic Report Card

The Trump administration has cut federal funding for the annual Arctic Report Card, a long-running project coordinated by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA). The report, published each year for two decades, documents rapid environmental change in the Arctic, including shrinking sea ice and snow cover, thinning glaciers, and tundra shifts that can contribute to large wildfires. NOAA’s communications director, Kim Doster, said in a Tuesday statement that coordination of the 2026 report card will not be facilitated through NOAA, though data previously contributed will remain publicly available.
