Two children dead after being struck by car while in pram

Two children under five have died after being struck by a car while in a pram near the Cumberland Highway in Cabramatta, Sydney’s south-west. Emergency services responded at about 3:15pm to the Joseph and Gilbert Street intersection, near the busy road, where the children were rushed to Westmead Hospital in critical condition but died shortly after arrival. A 33-year-old woman known to them sustained minor injuries, and the driver, a 56-year-old, remained uninjured and was taken for mandatory testing. All south-bound lanes on the Cumberland Highway were subsequently closed as police investigated the scene.
