Two Teens Rob Man's Car at Gunpoint, But They Don't Get Very Far
A 37-year-old man says a Facebook Marketplace deal turned into a carjacking after two teenagers allegedly took his 2015 Chevy Impala at gunpoint. Police said the incident occurred Saturday, August 22, at about 7:00 p.m., near Liberty Hills Apartments on Hampton Court. The suspect, 18-year-old Martelle Carlito Reed, and an unnamed 19-year-old accomplice reportedly took the car for a test drive, then the accomplice pointed a gun during a discussion about the title and the teens sped away without paying. Officers tried to stop the sedan on SOM Center Road, but it fled, reaching more than 115 mph and continuing onto I-480. The chase ended when the Impala rear-ended two vehicles on the Northfield Road overpass, and the car crashed into a highway wall after stalling. Reed was captured; the accomplice was injured.
