Volkswagen drivers warned their vehicle may stall over a software issue: What to know

Volkswagen has announced a recall affecting 49,958 units of its 2025 Tiguan due to a software issue. The U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration says the problem involves software that can cause the body control module (BCM) system to reset. As a result, the ignition can switch off, leading to an engine stall. The defect can also cause loss of certain controls, warning lights, exterior lighting problems, or failure of the rearview camera system. Volkswagen said it is not aware of injuries or crashes linked to the issue. Repairs will be handled with a free BCM software update, and owners will be notified starting Nov. 6, with VINs searchable on the NHTSA website.
