Volkswagen Is Just Taunting American Camper-Van Fans Now

Volkswagen is spotlighting camper-van ideas at Germany’s Caravan Salon in Düsseldorf this summer—features US buyers can’t get, at least for now. VW is debuting an inflatable interior system concept for the California Beach camper, developed with accessories maker Stuff Bubble for display from August 28 through September 6. The system includes an inflatable kitchen and a lightweight bed that VW says one person can install or remove in minutes. The kitchen uses a closed water system and weighs under 22 pounds. The inflatable bed measures about 79 by 53 inches and supports up to a four-person sleep setup with the van’s pop-up roof. For now, it remains a concept.
