Volkswagen recalls 4 million cars, Handelsblatt reports

Volkswagen will recall around 4 million vehicles across four brands, the German newspaper Handelsblatt reported, calling it the biggest action since Dieselgate. Germany’s KBA road authority said about 2.16 million Volkswagen models and roughly 700,000 Audi vehicles are included. Handelsblatt added that the sweep also covers more than one million Škoda vehicles, Volkswagen’s Czech brand, and about 200,000 seats in Spain’s Seat. Seat confirmed the figures, while Škoda offered no immediate comment. Volkswagen said customers were asked to visit workshops due to corrosion risk from a screw in the steering system. The company said replacement should take under an hour and declined to estimate total recall costs.
