Volkswagen plans to electrify its best-seller SUV line by introducing the ID. Tiguan in 2027, replacing both the ID.4 and ID.5 in the revamped lineup. Volkswagen says the all-electric model will go on sale in early 2027, starting in Europe, with the U.S. and other markets following shortly after. The automaker released images of a camouflaged prototype confirming a boxier, more traditional SUV design similar to the gas-powered Tiguan, including pop-out door handles replacing the flush style on the ID.4 and ID.5. Volkswagen didn’t share interior photos, but expects the updated cabin and a new infotainment system with physical buttons. The brand also cited battery and drivetrain updates, with the current ID.4 using an 82 kWh battery and EPA range up to 291 miles (RWD).
