Volkswagen to recall 2.86 million VW, Audi models over potential steering problem

Volkswagen Group will recall 2.86 million vehicles from the Volkswagen and Audi brands over a potential steering issue tied to a fastener that could fail. The precautionary recall covers specific models built between September 2013 and July 2024 for Volkswagen—Tiguan, Touran, Golf, Golf Variant and Caddy—and Audi Q3 vehicles produced between October 2017 and May 2024. Germany’s KBA says it has no known reports of crashes or damage to people or property. The corrective action replaces the screw with a more corrosion-resistant version, with repair time up to about an hour.
