Volvo Adds Plug & Charge To EX90 And EX60, Making Public EV Charging Simpler Than Ever
Volvo is adding Plug & Charge to the EX90 and EX60 to make public EV charging simpler for U.S. drivers. The feature lets owners start a charging session by plugging in the vehicle, removing the need for smartphone apps, membership cards, or credit card payments at participating stations. Volvo says Plug & Charge is available immediately for eligible EX90 owners and will also be built into the upcoming EX60 when deliveries begin later this year. The system handles authentication and payment automatically in the background across supported U.S. charging networks. Volvo also states its rollout covers more than 35,000 compatible charging stations, with charger locations accessible via the Volvo Cars app or Google Automotive in the vehicle. Competitors referenced include Tesla Superchargers and the IONNA network.
