Volvo XC40 Gets New Look, More Tech, Hybrid Focus

Volvo is giving its best-selling compact crossover, the 2028 XC40, its biggest refresh in years while discontinuing the EX40 all-electric model. For the 2028 model year, the XC40 gets a new front and rear design, updated tech and safety features, and a larger 11.2-inch touchscreen with Google Gemini AI for managing daily tasks and the music playlist. Showrooms are expected to open in early 2027. Volvo also says sales momentum has weakened in the U.S., slipping from 28,143 in 2023 to 22,852 last year, with fewer than 18,000 projected for 2026. Safety upgrades include new radars and cameras.
