Williams F1 prepares for 50th anniversary season in 2027
Atlassian Williams is preparing for its 50th season in Formula 1 in 2027, becoming only the third team to reach 50 years of continuous racing on the grid after McLaren and Ferrari. The milestone follows a record that includes nine Constructors’ Championships and seven Drivers’ Championships. Williams plans to celebrate throughout 2027, with the centerpiece being a public, ticketed “W50 Live” event in Waterloo from February 11 to February 28, 2027. The immersive program will feature championship-winning cars such as the FW06, FW11B (Nelson Piquet, 1987), FW14B (Nigel Mansell), FW25 (Juan Pablo Montoya’s long-standing fastest average speed record) and the FW38, which holds the fastest speed by an F1 car—378 kph by Valtteri Bottas in 2016 qualifying in Azerbaijan. A show car of the 2027 challenger, the FW50, will also be displayed, with Alexander Albon and Carlos Sainz driving next year.
