Woman gives police officer a lift in Nissan Micra while chasing man

A woman helped a police officer during a foot chase by stopping her Nissan Micra and telling the officer to “get in.” The officer had been pursuing Jacob Roberts, 25, who allegedly reverse-rammed a police car twice before crashing into parked vehicles and a building while escaping. Police said the chase began after officers detected the smell of cannabis coming from Roberts’ van, and that he drove erratically, failed to stop at multiple junctions, mounted pavements, and put pedestrians at risk. Roberts later ditched his van in Abercwmboi, Rhondda Cynon Taf and tried to flee on foot, where bodycam footage captured the lift. He was sentenced on Sept. 16 at Merthyr Tydfil Crown Court to one year and two months in jail and disqualified from driving for three years.
