Bille August To Direct Giorgio Armani Biopic 'Armani: The King of Fashion'
Bille August has been tapped to direct Armani: The King of Fashion, a feature biopic about the late fashion designer Giorgio Armani. A two-time Palme d’Or winner, August will lead the project produced by Andrea Iervolino (Ferrari). The film will trace Armani’s personal and professional evolution and his status as one of the most influential designers in 20th- and 21st-century fashion. Details on how much of Armani’s private life the movie will include remain unclear, as does whether Iervolino has sought collaboration from Armani’s family. Armani died on September 4 at age 91 from liver failure. Bobby Moresco, known for writing Crash and attached to script the film, has previously worked with Iervolino and is also directing Maserati: The Brothers. August’s directing credits include The Best Intentions and Pelle the Conqueror, and Iervolino praised him for elegance and respect for his subjects.
