Country superstar sets another attendance record, this time overseas
Country star Luke Combs set another attendance benchmark overseas on July 4, drawing 60,826 fans to Ullevi Stadium in Gothenburg, Sweden, for his first-ever city performance, according to Whiskey Riff. The concert coincided with the United States’ 250th birthday, with the venue featuring patriotic decorations and attendees wearing red, white and blue. The article adds that the stage used a massive honky tonk bar design reminiscent of Coyote Joe’s, a venue in Combs’ home state of North Carolina. The Nordic record follows a run of high-profile tour milestones: in May, Combs drew 97,367 at Ohio Stadium in Columbus and surpassed Garth Brooks’ Neyland Stadium mark in Knoxville with 92,045. At Lambeau Field in Green Bay, he drew 51,981 on May 16, while Friday night added 40,559 for 92,540 total, with the Packers noting there had never been back-to-back shows by the same artist on one weekend. His European dates continue to Amsterdam’s Johan Cruijff Arena before concluding in Ireland and the UK, including a three-night residency at Wembley Stadium in London.
