DOJ launches antitrust probe of TV networks. And, Trump says Ukraine needs new leader
The U.S. Justice Department has opened a formal antitrust investigation into five major television networks—ABC, CBS, CNN, NBC and Fox News—over their actions during a legal fight involving access to the White House. The move follows President Trump barring CNN, MSNBC and Politico from the White House, saying coverage was unfairly negative, and revoking White House press passes for more than 70 journalists; the affected outlets have sued to restore access. A federal judge temporarily ordered reinstatement, with a final decision expected by Tuesday evening, while the DOJ cites national security. The newsletter also recaps Trump urging Ukraine to hold wartime elections and replace Volodymyr Zelenskyy, alongside storm fatalities after Hurricane Isaias and Houthi attacks in Saudi Arabia.
