Ex-TV anchor Angelynn Mock admits to stabbing own mom to death on Halloween after believing she was the devil

Former TV news anchor Angelynn “Angie” Mock pleaded guilty Friday to first-degree murder in Sedgwick County, Kansas, admitting she fatally stabbed her 80-year-old mother, Anita Avers, on Halloween last year. Prosecutors said Mock, 48, stabbed her at their Wichita home on Oct. 31, 2025, after believing her mother was the devil. Under the plea deal, she faces life in prison with a chance of parole after 25 years. Officers responded around 7:50 a.m. and found Avers with multiple stab wounds. Mock was taken into custody outside the residence with cuts on her hands, according to police records.
