George Strait joins Alan Jackson in rare appearance at farewell show
George Strait joined Alan Jackson at a rare farewell appearance during Jackson’s final concert, “Alan Jackson: Last Call – The Finale,” at Nissan Stadium in Nashville on June 27. Performing before a sold-out crowd, Strait came onstage to sing “Designated Drinker” and “Murder on Music Row,” both linked to Jackson’s catalog and their long-standing musical partnership. Prior to Jackson’s set, several country stars paid tribute, including Luke Bryan, Eric Church, Luke Combs, Miranda Lambert, Carrie Underwood and Lainey Wilson. Jackson, 67, is retiring from touring due to an inherited neurological condition, Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease. The final show was broadcast live in locations across Nashville, including Lower Broadway, and will later air as a prime-time television special and stream on Peacock. Strait retired from full touring in 2014.
