Harry Styles fans warned as ticket scams leave victims £1,295 out of pocket

Ticket scams targeting Harry Styles fans are a rising threat, with victims losing an average of £1,295 once hidden costs are tallied. Monzo’s research shows nearly one in three victims only realises they’ve been scammed when they reach the venue and are refused entry. In addition to the ticket price, losses span travel, hotels, food, and clothing purchased for the event. Among those scammed, 32% lost money on travel or accommodation, 28% on food, 24% on clothing, and 23% on childcare or pet care, with 39% attempting to salvage plans through alternate activities. Monzo reports almost 700 customers monthly affected in 2025, while Action Fraud recorded £9.8 million in losses in 2024. The study notes rising AI-powered deception, with 42% of social-media scams aided by realistic profiles, images, or voice notes, and 53% of Brits lacking confidence in spotting fake sellers online. The warnings include a Monzo checklist, starting with caution toward social-media messages from ticket sellers, as legitimate actors rarely use such channels.
