How (and why) did Flavor Flav become the driving force behind SHE Weekend?

SHE Weekend, organizado por Flavor Flav, will run in Las Vegas from July 16–19 and is aimed at celebrating elite U.S. women athletes. The event, backed by Flav and hosted through his involvement in the broader initiative, will bring together more than 100 athletes from this year’s winter games, including the women’s hockey team and the USA bobsled/skeleton teams. It will include public and private activities such as dinners, shows and community moments, beginning with a parade on the Las Vegas Strip and a free concert headlined by Public Enemy and Sheila E on Thursday. The project traces back to 2024 outreach involving Maggie Steffens, a four-time Olympian and three-time gold medalist, whose water polo team sought financial stability ahead of the Paris Olympics. ESPN reports Steffens’ efforts began after a letter reached Flav’s manager, Rhiannon Rae Ellis.
