John Joseph Vergot
John J. Vergot, Jr., 85, of Hollywood, Maryland, died peacefully at home on August 3, 2026. Born January 16, 1941, in York, Pennsylvania, he grew up in Cheverly, attended DeMatha High School, and later joined the U.S. Navy straight after graduation. After military service, he worked for more than 35 years as a civilian at the Federal Government supporting the Department of Defense, retiring from Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR) at NAS Patuxent River. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and amateur radio, was a Redskin fan, and was described as a Frank Sinatra superfan and an enthusiast he jokingly labeled a “Martiniologist.” He is survived by two daughters, grandchildren, a twin sister, and other family members, and was preceded in death by several siblings.
