Marquette remembers 9/11

Marquette County is marking the 25th anniversary of the Sept. 11 attacks with services and memorials today. Northern Michigan University will toll bells at 8:46 a.m., followed by a moment of silence, marking the time the first plane hit World Trade Center Tower 1. The university will also honor the late 1985 NMU alumnus, Lt. Col. Kip Taylor, who died when American Airlines Flight 77 crashed into the Pentagon. At 9:30 a.m., NMU’s ROTC and Military Science Department will present the colors at Veteran Rock and hold a memorial flag ceremony with remarks by Major Jeffert Woleben. Next week, NMU will stage “Find a TV” on Sept. 17 and 19.
