McGirr heads back to London Fashion Week as Alexander McQueen confirms its return for SS27, underscoring the city’s role in the house’s identity. The McQueen runway event is scheduled for September 20, and will be Seán McGirr’s first London show as the brand’s creative director. McQueen originally established itself as a London mainstay with highly theatrical seasonal shows, then shifted to Paris Fashion Week about a quarter of a century ago, with only occasional London events, the most recent in 2022 under Sarah Burton. McGirr said London’s “visceral energy” remains central to the label’s history.
