Prime Video quietly adds heartbreaking 'Curse of Love Island' doc

Prime Video has added the documentary “The Curse of Love Island,” which is now streaming in two episodes as of July 26. The film explores the “highs and lows” of reality TV fame tied to ITV2’s “Love Island,” which debuted in 2015 and brings together singles searching for romance. According to the report, the documentary examines three deaths that impacted the show and its audience, addressing how former participants dealt with mental health issues and pressures after leaving the program. It covers the suicides of Sophie Gradon and Mike Thalassitis and the death of Caroline Flack, all described in the article as occurring by suicide. Contributors include past contestants, industry experts, and close friends, with interviews from Malin Andersson, Anton Danyluk, Luis Morrison, and Marcel Somerville. The two-part series, produced by Story Films, releases both episodes simultaneously, ahead of the Love Island finale scheduled for Monday, July 27. ITV said it updated its duty of care, including training and a social media blackout during filming, plus welfare producer contact for 14 months after the show.
