Rape and assault case against British entertainer Yung Filly heading to jury in Australia

Closing arguments were delivered Tuesday as the rape and assault case against British entertainer Yung Filly, whose real name is Andres Felipe Valencia Barrientos, heads to a jury in Perth, Australia. The 30-year-old rapper is accused of raping and choking a fan after a performance two years ago. He pleaded not guilty in Western Australia’s District Court to six counts of rape, three counts of assault occasioning bodily harm, and one count of choking. The accuser, who cannot be identified, was 20 at the time. Prosecutor Danielle Clarke described Barrientos as an “entitled man” who was sexually violent toward an “impressionable” young woman. Defense lawyer David Edwardson said the evidence contains inconsistencies, embellishments, and lies. Barrientos testified Monday, denying he slapped or choked her but admitting he bit her multiple times. The jury may deliberate late Wednesday after Judge Linda Black’s final instructions.
