Remos concert stage to be redesigned after criticism over Alexander statue

Thessaloniki will redesign the stage for a free Antonis Remos concert after criticism over how a statue of Alexander the Great was incorporated. City officials said scaffolding around the monument in the northern port area triggered backlash, and the initial stage setup reportedly used the statue as part of the performance. Deputy mayor George Dimarelos said the city asked organizers to reconsider immediately so the monument would remain unobstructed and clearly visible. Remos is scheduled to perform Saturday at the Nea Paralia waterfront promenade as part of a 30-years-in-music celebration, open to the public at no charge. The production company said extra protection was used, plus special lighting and technology.
