Rich' political mystery based on massive bestseller arrives on Netflix

Netflix has added The Pelican Brief, the 1993 legal-political thriller starring Julia Roberts and Denzel Washington, based on John Grisham’s bestselling 1992 novel. The story begins when two U.S. Supreme Court justices are murdered on the same evening, prompting New Orleans law student Darby Shaw (Roberts) to build a speculative legal brief detailing an alleged presidential and corporate conspiracy. As Darby shares her findings, her law professor boyfriend is killed in a car bombing cover-up, leading her to partner with investigative journalist Gray Grantham (Washington) to uncover the plot. The film was adapted by Alan J. Pakula, his final project before his 1998 death.
