Rod Stewart Needs Oxygen Midway Through US Concert After He 'Nearly Fainted' on Stage

Rod Stewart was forced to use an oxygen tank during a U.S. concert after nearly fainting on stage, according to reports tied to footage and his recent cancellations. The singer, 81, appeared doubled over in pain while performing at the Utah First Credit Union Amphitheater in West Valley City, Utah, on Friday, June 19, and staff brought out an oxygen tank as he moved to the side of the stage. Stewart later told the crowd he “almost [expletive] fainted,” joked, insisted “the show must go on,” and completed the set while sitting. He had canceled a show on June 12 due to a respiratory infection that escalated into laryngitis, and previously canceled Vegas residency dates in late May for vocal rest. Criticism followed after he flew privately to watch Scotland play Haiti a day later. Stewart’s planned North American farewell tour is scheduled to end August 15.
