Russell Brand told police he led a “very promiscuous” life and said consensual sexual encounters were “unfavourably reframed” decades later, the trial heard. The 51-year-old comedian, accused of sexual offences against six women across allegations spanning 10 years from 1999, denied all charges and blamed the claims on “defamatory and fictitious” media reports. In statements read to Southwark Crown Court in London, he said he had been interviewed four times between November 2023 and July 2025, insisting he had “never engaged in any non-consensual sexual activity.” Brand pointed to joint reporting by Channel 4, The Times and The Sunday Times and argued additional allegations were invited and then “invented or reimagined.”
