Schindler X8 shows flexible installation in the Swiss Alps

Schindler has demonstrated the flexible installation potential of its Schindler X8 elevator system in the Swiss Alps with a new showcase on Mount Männlichen in Grindelwald. The company installed two fully working units inside a specially built, house-style temporary structure, using the Bernese Alps backdrop and the “Top of Europe” setting. The article says the Schindler X8 can operate without a concrete shaft, pit, or headroom, needing only a single wall cut-out at the door front, and runs on a standard 230V single-phase power outlet. More than 500 guests from across Switzerland attended the customer event, including architects, real estate managers, contractors and investors, and visitors could ride the elevators, examine materials across six interior packages, and test an online configurator. The modular showcase reached Grindelwald as the third stop after Milan and Basel, with the Alps installation completed in two days. Local collaboration was required, including transport over narrow mountain routes. Schindler Operations Manager Flavia Portner said conventional systems would not be able to replicate the approach, with elevators installed quickly inside a complete house format.
