Scott Tyring Column: Walk like Jesus

In a column titled “Walk like Jesus,” Scott Tyring uses popular music references to frame a discussion on direction, influence, and faith. He contrasts Aerosmith’s “Walk This Way” and The Bangles’ “Walk Like An Egyptian,” connecting the idea of “walking” to behavior and values. Tyring then turns to Jewish tradition, noting that halakah—derived from the Hebrew verb halak, meaning “walk”—involves hundreds of laws. He recalls the conflicts between Jesus and Pharisees over traditions and Sabbath practices, and cites Matthew 16:23-26 about taking up one’s cross and following Jesus rather than pursuing worldly ends.
