Stockton's new waterfront opens with Armed Forces Day celebration
Stockton’s new waterfront opens with an Armed Forces Day celebration marking the official debut of a new town waterfront park. The event, titled “Armed Forces Day: A Community Celebration,” took place at Stockton Waterfront on Saturday as the site welcomed its first visitors. The opening included wartime musical performances, an open-air thanksgiving service and a ceremonial flypast. The waterfront also creates a direct link between Stockton High Street and the River Tees via a land bridge structure, spanning Riverside Road and enabling uninterrupted access to the riverfront. Stockton Council said the weekend showcased the “scale and ambition” of what the waterfront is intended to offer residents, visitors and businesses. Updates and coverage were promoted via BBC Tees social channels.
