Brazil Concert Band to perform Sunday
The Brazil Concert Band will continue its “America 250: Eclectic” theme with a Sunday performance at 8 p.m. in Forest Park, with the concert scheduled rain or shine. The program includes marches such as “Emblem Of Freedom” by Karl L. King, “Them Basses” by G. H. Huffine and “King Cotton” by John Philip Sousa. It will also feature American compositions ranging from “Memories Of Stephen Foster,” arranged by G. E. Holmes, to “Satchmo!” honoring Louis Armstrong, arranged by Ted Ricketts, and selections from “Show Boat.” Additional pieces include “Old New York Medley” and “Night Train,” arranged by Paul Yoder, “Way Down Yonder in New Orleans” by Jerry Nowak, and “I Left My Heart In San Francisco” by Alfred Reed. Director Matthew S. Huber and the Brazil Concert Band will present the Department of Defense edition of “The Star-Spangled Banner” on June 30, 1953, arranged by John Stafford Smith.
