Tested TCL's midrange QM7L SQD TV, and it came surprisingly close to premium performance

TCL’s midrange QM7L SQD TV brings Super Quantum Dot (SQD) quantum-dot technology closer to premium LED performance, using nanocrystals to boost color and brightness. The review unit was a 75-inch model, part of a five-size lineup from 55 to 98 inches, and it weighs 44 pounds. TCL emphasizes the QM7L’s strong black levels and contrast—among the best seen on an LED-backlit set—paired with high brightness and expansive color. The TV also includes onboard microphones, now using Gemini for smart commands, and four HDMI 2.1 ports, with two supporting VRR up to 144Hz for gaming. It supports Dolby Vision and HDR10+ and includes Bang & Olufsen speakers. Key compromises include a more reflective screen and weaker off-center viewing.
