Three dead after news helicopter crash in Los Angeles
An NBC local news helicopter crashed in the Chatsworth area of Los Angeles on Tuesday evening, killing three people, NBC reported during a live broadcast. NBC Los Angeles anchors identified the aircraft as NewsChopper 4. Colleen Williams said the station lost contact and later confirmed the helicopter went down just before 7 p.m. local time. The Los Angeles Fire Department said five people were evaluated on scene, with three pronounced dead and two taken to hospital. At least one victim was reported to have been in the parking lot next to a commercial building, though it was unclear whether the other two deaths occurred on the ground or inside the aircraft. The crash followed an earlier collision involving a Los Angeles Metro bus and a passenger vehicle, which killed at least two people. Investigations will be led by the NTSB and FAA.
