India’s Union Culture and Tourism Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat said partnerships with major private players such as Netflix, Google, YouTube and Air India can help “create wonders” in promoting Indian destinations. Speaking at the National Gallery of Modern Art in New Delhi on Wednesday, the minister also marked Netflix’s 10 years in India and noted that the streaming platform has filmed across more than 100 locations nationwide. The ministry launched an “As Seen on Netflix” section on its Incredible India portal tied to a “non-commercial” MoU signed last year. Netflix Co-CEO Ted Sarandos said the goal is to stay “authentically local” while reflecting India’s “continuity of civilisation” and “incredible diversity.”
