Cat with rabies attacks 2 people in Gwinnett County

A cat in Norcross, Georgia tested positive for rabies after attacking two people on Sept. 24, according to Gwinnett County officials. The incident occurred near the 4300 block of Jimmy Carter Blvd. The animal was later tested and confirmed rabies-positive, prompting health authorities to urge residents to avoid animals that appear strange or aggressive. Rabies can spread to people and pets through bites or scratches from infected animals and can be deadly without prompt treatment. Pet owners are also advised to keep dogs and cats up to date on rabies vaccinations.
