Charlotte doctor arrested in Virginia I-77 road rage shooting that injured 2 sisters, police say
A Charlotte doctor has been arrested on felony charges in connection with a road rage shooting on Interstate 77 in Virginia that injured two sisters, police said. Richard T. Ariviello, 61, was taken into custody Saturday, Aug. 22, after investigators said he fired shots into a Jeep carrying the two victims. Ariviello faces multiple felonies, including maliciously shooting into an occupied vehicle, shooting from a vehicle, and maliciously causing bodily harm with intent to maim, plus a firearm charge tied to the felonies. WBTV confirmed through the North Carolina Medical Board that he is a licensed physician and owner of Family Urgent Care in Monroe, North Carolina. State police said the sisters, ages 12 and 20, suffered non-life-threatening injuries and were treated at a nearby hospital.
