Child in hospital and driver arrested after crash

A child has been taken to hospital with serious injuries after being hit by a car at a traffic-light crossing near The Health Centre on Mably Way in Grove, Wantage, Oxfordshire, at about 18:25 BST on Friday. A 37-year-old man from Wantage was arrested at the scene on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving; he has been released on bail.

Detective Sergeant Edward Crofts thanked bystanders and medical staff and urged witnesses to come forward about the vehicle’s movements before and during the crash, especially along A417 from Didcot toward Denchworth Road and Mably Way.
