Child in hospital and driver arrested after crash near Wantage

A child has been taken to hospital with serious injuries after being hit by a car at a traffic-light crossing on Mably Way in Grove, near Wantage, Oxfordshire, at about 18:25 BST on Friday. A 37-year-old man from Wantage was arrested at the scene on suspicion of dangerous driving causing serious injury; he has been released on bail.

Detective Sergeant Edward Crofts thanked bystanders and medical staff and urged witnesses to come forward about the vehicle’s movements before and during the crash, especially along A417 from Didcot toward Denchworth Road and Mably Way.
