Conway and Tickner back in New Zealand's central contract list
Conway and Tickner return to New Zealand’s central contract list for the 2026-27 season, NZC announced on Wednesday, June 17, citing their readiness for an intensive year of Test cricket. Opening batter Devon Conway and pace bowler Blair Tickner have both moved back into the 20-player list after spending two years on casual playing arrangements linked to franchise tournaments abroad. Tickner’s recall follows strong performances across formats for both the Central Stags and the national team, according to NZC. Head coach Rob Walter said full-time contracting is key to maintaining depth in a period with a “heavy diet” of red-ball cricket, especially after Kane Williamson’s recent retirement. Conway was also highlighted as consistently available across all three formats. Adithya Ashok and Muhammad Abbas were left out as the pair returned.
