Court date postponed for driver who slammed into L.A. Metro bus, killing 2

The arraignment of Bailee Lynn Rios, 36, accused in a fatal Metro bus crash in Chatsworth that killed two people, has been postponed after she did not appear in court for a scheduled hearing Thursday at 8:30 a.m. The bailiff said the delay was due to a “medical miss-out,” meaning she was not transported from jail to the courthouse. Prosecutors are expected to reschedule the appearance for Friday at 8:30 a.m. Police allege Rios drove a Ford Expedition the wrong way down De Soto Avenue, ran a red light at Nordhoff Street and hit Metro Line 166. Daniel Castillo, 46, and Gage Weida, 31, died; six others were taken to hospitals. Rios remains in custody with bail set above $4 million, and investigators are still determining the crash’s cause. The LAPD is handling the investigation.
