A year after President Trump pledged to cut Medicaid drug prices, questions remain about whether the administration’s promised discounts have materialized. Speaking at the Sept. 10 midterm Republican National Convention, Trump referenced deals with pharmaceutical companies that, he said, lowered U.S. prescription drug prices. On Sept. 30, 2025, the White House announced an agreement with Pfizer and said 26 companies signed similar deals, later describing them as “most favored nation” arrangements aimed at aligning U.S. prices with those in other wealthy countries. The TrumpRx site highlighted limited discounts. For Medicaid, Trump said Pfizer would offer all prescriptions at most-favored-nation prices, but NPR reported delays, uncertainty and lack of transparency, including that companies contacted would not confirm whether all drugs are included.
